Phew!

Summer is here and we are SWAMPED!

Thank you to all of our clients, new and old, for keeping us so busy! We have received so many new clients that I thought it would be helpful to create a blog post giving potential visitors a highlighted list to provide a better idea of what to expect from us, here, at Planet Groom.

About Planet Groom: The Basics

  • Lori is the owner, head groomer, & big cheese.

  • Lori opened Planet Groom in 2010 & celebrated 10 years in business in 2020.

  • We are located in Pawling, N.Y. on Route 22 in the same plaza as KFC (across the street from Hannaford).

  • Our 2nd groomer is Kim & our office manager is Heather.

  • Our facility is cage-free. INSTEAD of cages, we use 'cubbies', which are still separate, individual, and extremely secure, but less stressful for your pup.

  • We do not have a standard hour of closing; we close after our last dog of the day is picked up. Our hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, 8am until last dog of the day is picked up!

  • Our prices vary, depending on the size of the dog and the condition of the coat.

Planet Groom Services

We are often asked about certain aspects of our services, but we do not charge ala cart! All of the following are included in your dog’s visit:


  • Bath

  • Hand-blow drying & brushing

  • Full haircut

  • Ear cleaning & plucking

  • Nail trimming

  • Cologne/Perfume

  • Bandana and/or bow(s)

We use only the most high-quality products to bathe and care for your pets. We have options available for dogs of differing coats and/or skin concerns, including oatmeal, medicated shampoos, hypoallergenic shampoo, de-sheddding, etc. If you have a specific preference, be sure to let us know!


Upon the first visit, we do require proof of the most recent rabies and distemper vaccines and ask all of our new pet parents to fill out a short form for our records.

We’ve had a lot of changes, here, in the past year, and these are other important things that we feel all of our clients need to know!


  1. We typically book 2 or more weeks in advance, so please keep that in mind if you are hoping for a specific date or to schedule an appointment around a personal event.
  2. If you are 15 or more minutes late, we will not be able to keep your grooming appointment. Due to how busy we are, this type of lateness greatly impacts our appointments & our other clients.
  3. Beginning in July 2021, we will no longer be able to accept tips via credit card due to the ever-increasing credit card fees.
  4. Unfortunately, we do not currently groom cats.

We hope this primer helps all potential future clients who are looking for the answers to some frequently asked questions. If you are looking for more information or would like to schedule an appointment, be sure to give us a call or shoot us an email. We typically do not answer the phone while dogs are in the shop, as we cannot leave them alone during the grooming process (it is unsafe) and it may just be too loud to hear, so if you leave us a message, we will get back to you, as soon as possible!
